Withies

A withie is a small willow sapling from which a tree would grow, and it also the name of my home........ that is how I began WiTHieS.

I started baking cakes on a very small scale for my family and friends about 6 years ago, which then progressed to the country market co-operative selling at Farmers Markets in chipping Sodbury and thornbury. Since then I have branched into selling cakes to coffee shops; woodlands memorial at Alveston and also Acton Court, Iron Acton. Last year I began catering for private functions and I am also about to open a coffee shop.

I believe that food should be honest, using ingredients that have been fairly traded. My produce is homemade either in my kitchen at Withies "HQ" or in the shop, both are hygiene inspected by the south Gloucestershire Environmental health team. I hardly ever buy convenience foods these days as I have learnt over these last few years how to make nice food from scratch. My family and friends during this period of growth have been willing guinea pigs.

I hope you enjoy my home cooking, and I really do not mind if you take one of my cakes from the packaging, put it into your cake tin and tell everyone you made it yourself......... as long as you pass on your secret to another good friend.
